El museo etnográfico y el Centro Cultural de Al Ula se encuentran en un enclave privilegiado, pues además de estar muy próximos a las ruinas nabateas Madain Saleh (15 km), están situados en un borde del desierto saudí. La forma de las montañas, que los dos edificios estén separados por un desfiladero y la idea de la fortaleza árabe para resguardarse del calor hacen de esta propuesta un edificio singular que sabe escuchar al entorno y al contexto histórico que le rodea. La solución se propone con tapial, un material constructivo local que dota al proyecto de gran expresividad, emulando la naturaleza terrosa de las montañas cercanas.
