On the outskirts of the city, in a border area between planned and unplanned housing, this proposal seeks to unify the two areas. Three administrations have invested in unison for the urban regeneration of a piece of Madrid which, in this case, is not located in the areas closest to the historical centre. The project of road and pavement re-paving works covers more than 20 streets within the Tetuán area and improves the pedestrian accessibility of two important streets. The initiative is improved with the recovery and development of a delapidated and forgotten urban space. With the introduction of the lift and the widening of the sidewalk it becomes an unexpected anteroom on the eastern limit of this area of the Tetuán neighbourhood. On the stairs of Cicerón Street, a stone and mortar wall has been demolished and a concrete wall covered in L-shaped metal profiles has been built. |
