The rehabilitation of the Theatre Lope de Vega is a firm commitment of Caja Duero to rescue the oldest stage space in Valladolid. The building has suffered deterioration produced by deficient original construction and from weather. The project combines the concepts of restoration, found particularly in the theatre space, with rehabilitation found in a broader sense in the rest of the building. The theatre is a building of great historical value and is configured following the scheme design of the traditional Italian theatres, with classic stalls, orchestra boxes, amphitheatre and gallery, with the typical horseshoe-shaped layout and an inclined stage facing the audience. The roof was restored in situ, returning missing parts damaged by old leaks that had left their mark on several points of the surface. |
